Do your products contain nut oils?

Yes, some of our products contain nut oils. Most notably our 08 Buriti Body Oil contains sweet almond oil which could be an irritant for people with nut allergies. If you have never used almond oil on your skin before we recommend doing a patch test on the inside of your wrist or elbow. If there are no signs of irritation, redness or swelling after a few hours the oil is likely safe to use on your skin. Our 01 Luminous Face Oil contains argan oil and our 02 Cleansing Balm - Overnight Mask contains Shea butter, which is an extract of the nut of the Shea tree. Instances of these types of oils acting as irritants for people with nut allergies are rare, but, nonetheless, if you know you have nut allergies we highly recommend consulting your doctor before using our products.

 

Are your products made in America?

Yes! All of our products are made in Los Angeles, California from domestic and foreign ingredients.

 

Are your products gluten-free?

Yes. Our products are formulated without gluten and do not come in contact with any gluten during production.

 

Are the products cruelty-free?

Yes! We are proudly certified cruelty-free by both Leaping Bunny and Logical Harmony. We do not test any of our products on animals, nor do we source from companies that test ingredients on animals. We also will not distribute our products in any country that requires us to test on animals.

 

Are your products all natural?

Yes, but it is important to recognize this is a question that can result in misleading answers. The term ‘Natural’ is not well-regulated and products that are labeled ‘All Natural’ often contain chemical ingredients. We prefer to refer to our products as ‘Chemical-free’ rather than ‘Natural’. 

 

What do you mean when you say ‘Made With 100% Certified Organic Ingredients’?

This means that all of the ingredients that can be certified organic by a certifying body have been certified organic. In the past we have used certain ingredients, such as green clay or sea salt, that can not be certified organic because, by definition, they are not organic. Some ingredients, such as tobacco oil, do not typically receive organic certification because they are not commonly used, or are not food related. In the event we choose to use such an ingredient we use ‘Wildcrafted’ ingredients which are harvested and processed following guidelines that are very closely related to organic guidelines (no pesticides, herbicides, etc.). As we are not currently using green clay, sea salt, tobacco oil or other non-certified ingredients, every product in our current line is made using 100% certified organic ingredients.

 

Do your products contain fillers of any kind?

No! Many of the ingredients used in oil based skin care products are very expensive. As a result, other companies will add fillers to their face oils and other products to increase their profit margins’. Aloe Vera Gel is one such ingredient that is very cheap and is used to add volume to more expensive ingredients. You won’t find it (or any other filler ingredient) in our products. At 10 Degrees Cooler we believe every ingredient should be there to serve the needs of our clients, not the needs of our bottom line. We use only the purest ingredients, and if it’s in there it’s because it’s part of what makes the best — not the most profitable — products on the market.

 

What is the shelf life of your products?

We produce our products in small batches to ensure they leave our facility at peak freshness. Once the products have been opened the shelf life is 12 months or more. Because we use no synthetic preservatives, and because oils are vulnerable to light, heat, and air, we recommend you store them tightly-closed and in a cool place (room temperature or below) out of direct sunlight or bright light. Following these guidelines will extend the shelf life of your products. 

 

Do your products contain any preservatives?

No. We add no preservatives of any kind to our products. For this reason it is important that they be stored away from heat and direct sunlight/bright light in order to give them the longest possible shelf life.

I bought the 03 Midnight In Corsica Face Oil. Is it supposed to smell this way?

This product is so effective that we get very excited when we hear that someone loves the way it smells from the start. Having said that, we are aware that it is an unusual scent and not everyone loves it right away. We encourage you to consider a few things, the most important of which is that it is a treatment not a perfume! Andreea Farcas's formulas are rooted in science and she does not include any ingredient that does not serve a purpose. She also does not leave out ingredients with effective healing properties simply because they smell unusual. The ingredients in this product have powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that can do wonders for a variety of skin issues. Most people who are willing to give it a chance find that the scent grows on them over time, and they become hooked on the results the product gives. We hope you will be one of those people!

Will your products fade? If they have faded are they still good?

Air, light, and heat are unkind to our products in which we put NO added preservatives. We can not stress enough the importance of carefully storing your products.. If the oil based products are subjected to bright light (or even worse, sunlight) on a regular basis they will fade. While they may not be as pretty as they once were, as long as they were sealed tightly they should still be fine to use. They will not harm you but if they have gone bad they will smell rancid and should be disposed of. 

 

Can I put on makeup after using a face or eye oil?

Yes, but it is important you allow time for your skin to properly absorb your oil products. If you use the correct amount of oil, it should be fully absorbed in about 3-5 minutes. After this you may proceed with makeup application as you normally would.

 

I've ordered this product before. Why is the color different from last time?

All of our products are made from certified organic, plant-based ingredients. Because we rely on crops that rely on nature, things like weather and soil can make an oil from one part of the world look different from the same oil (from the same plant) in a different part of the world. Even weather changes from season to season can affect the look of an ingredient we sourced before from the same fields. The final color of our products can be affected by these normal natural changes and have no affect on the efficacy of the product. We bring you the best of what nature has to offer. Sometimes it looks different!

There's something floating in and/or at the bottom of my bottle of oil. Is that ok?

For aesthetic reasons we do everything we can to source crystal clear oils that will look beautiful in our bottles. The challenge with this is that our oils come from plants and plants have natural fats and waxes that can exist in suspension (sometimes at the microscopic level). On occasion one or more of our ingredients may contain these suspended particles which, over time, will settle to the bottom of the bottle. They are often whitish in color but in the 03 Midnight In Corsica Face Oil they can appear darker due to the blue chamazulene in the German Chamomile. While this can result in a product that is not as pretty as we would prefer, it is also an indicator that you are getting natural, plant-based ingredients. Please also know that things like mold and bacteria can not grow in oils (and our oils in particular have additional antibacterial and antifungal properties). To be extra safe we have had these sediments lab tested and they contain nothing harmful whatsoever. Your product is fine and you may use it as you normally would. This is just one of those things that comes with using the best ingredients nature has to offer.

 

Do you accept returns?

We want you to be absolutely thrilled with every aspect of your interactions with our company. While most people love our products, we accept that they may not be for everyone. If, within 14 days of receiving your order, you are not completely satisfied with one or all of your products, please return the unused portion for a full refund.

 

Please note the refund will apply only to the returned product(s) purchased from our website. Purchases made through any other website, retailer, or subscription service are subject to the return policy of that website, retailer, or subscription service and must be managed through the other seller. 

 

Any shipping costs incurred from a return of items purchased through our site are the responsibility of the consumer and will not be covered by Apothecary 90291, and we are not responsible for returns that don't reach us, so please use a trackable service.

 

Why am I paying (or not paying) sales tax?

Because our company is based in California, we are required to charge sales tax on all orders delivered to a California address. At this time, only U.S. orders shipping to California addresses will be charged sales tax, however, the addressee is responsible for any applicable taxes on products shipped internationally.

Your shipping policy changed! What happened?

We are continuously looking for ways to improve our service and bring more value to our customers, therefore we are experimenting with free shipping on our domestic orders. Can we really afford to do this? Well... we'll see. We are still a tiny company and shipping is expensive, but we want to do everything in our power to make you happy!

 

Unfortunately, international orders are simply too costly in both shipping and labor expenses to offer complimentary shipping outside of the United States and U.S. territories. Having said that, our $25 flat rate is still discounted below the actual cost for us to ship to you.

Which countries do you ship to?

We ship to North America (U.S., Canada, Mexico), Europe and Australia. If you live outside of these areas please contact us before ordering. If it is legal for us to ship products to your country we will do so.

 

How long will it take to receive my shipment after my order is processed?

In most cases we are able to ship within two (2) days of your order and get you your product(s) within a week (often less).  But because virtually everything about our products is handmade, and because we make them in small batches to ensure freshness and potency, please allow up to one week for your order to ship. After that, please allow another week for U.S. shipments to arrive. International orders should allow up to four weeks to arrive after your delivery has shipped.

 

My order was damaged during delivery. What should I do?

In the unlikely event any of your products arrives damaged please contact us as soon as possible and we will work quickly to resolve the issue. 

 

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept most major credit cards and PayPal. 

 

May I change/cancel my order?

Yes. Please contact us within 24 hours of placing your order and we will amend or cancel it per your request.
